All-America Lauren Lucci Wins Two More Titles at MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships; James Green Also Wins Twice and is Named Men's Field Athlete of the Year

5/1-3/08 -- Senior All-America Lauren Lucci (Springfield, PA) won twice and sophomore James Green (Lansdale, PA) was named the Men's Field Athlete of the Year for Widener at the Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.
Lucci won the shot put by covering 14.18 meters and the discus throw at 43.02 meters, raising her MAC championships total to 16. The Mideast Region Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Year ended second in the country in the shot put at this year's NCAA Indoor Championships.
The women's 4x400 meter relay team also was victorious, stopping the clock in 4:07.49. The squad consisted of freshmen Meghan Delaney (Philadelphia, PA), Emily Santo (Woodbury Heights, NJ), Valisha Andrus (Pemberton, NJ) and Tricia Hunt (Glenolden, PA).
The women closed second for the best finish in school history with 134.7 points. Messiah won the title with 274.5 points.
Green captured the shot put at 15.09 meters and the javelin at 58.20 meters. Sophomore James Woodley (Pittsgrove, NJ) took the discus throw at 45.45 meters.
The men's 4x100 meter relay squad also won a conference title, finishing in 42.67 seconds.
The men closed third with 153 points. Elizabethtown won the crown with 215.5 points.
